Electricity is not delivered to your home by your retailer

It is important to understand that the electricity supplied to your home is delivered by "Distribution Network Service Providers" commonly referred to as "Distributors".

If you have a look at your bill and you live in NSW or South East Queensland, you're going to find one of the following Distributors on it:

They are the people you need to call if there is a blackout or some other problem with your connection.

Distributors recover their costs from the Retailer that bills you.

This includes a charge for your connection to the grid, as well as a charge for the amount of electricity you consume.

The amount they are a allowed to charge is regulated by the Australian Energy Regulator ("AER").
